There is no doubt that the entire earth is filled with amazing natural wonders that were born long before any of us got here. In France, you can see lots of natural beauty as well as man-made wonders. In this country you can find idyllic alpine scenery, stunning mountains and caves, and much more. Let’s have a look at the most wonderful natural wonders in this beautiful country.
Mont Bland is located between France and Italy, and it is actually the highest mountain in Western Europe, and the tallest in the entire Alps. It has a height of 4,810 meters, height that varies every year, depending on the depth of snow at its summit. Mont Blanc is a very popular place for climbers. The first successful summit attempt was recorded many years ago, in 1786 to be more precise. Every single year a large number of tourists from every corner of the world comes to Mont Blanc, no matter the season. You can basically find something to do here all year round, whether you travel alone, with friends, or with the entire family.
Aiguille du Dru
Within the Mont Blanc mountain range, you will find Aiguille du Dru, which is a mountain made of granite rock. However, it is well-know for its grey rock fall scar and jagged peak. Tourists have been climbing this peak at least since 1870. In 1913, a group of climbers placed a metal statue of Our Lady of Lourdes at the summit, which still stands there today, and it looks absolutely amazing. This natural wonder of France is something that you should see, especially if you are a mountain lover who loves adventures.
The Etretat Cliffs are located on a beautiful resort beach that has attracted and still does lots of notable painters, writers, and other artists, including Lupin, Monet, Boudin, and Courbet. Some of the most amazing and iconic cliffs include their three stunning natural arches and the jagged ”needle” that actually emerges separately out of the ocean. The cliffs are made of white chalk and thanks to the green grass and mosses the entire landscape looks absolutely magical. In the warm season, you can sunbathe and swim, as well as relax while enjoying the lovely views.
Pic du Midi d’Ossau
Pic du Midi d’Ossau’s striking massive peak beautifully rises from the Ossau Valley. It is well known for its jagged, angular interesting shape. Pic du Midi definitely stands as one of the most striking features of the landscape. The greatest view is from the Boulevard des Pyrenees. You can also go for climbing or hiking, as there are a few wonderful routes for an ascent.
Gorges du Verdon
This spectacular river canyon is situated in the Alpse-de-Haute-Provence, and it is surrounded by the beautiful French Alps. It is 25-kilometer long and 700-meter deep. Gorges du Verdon is considered one of the most amazing gorges in Europe and plenty of tourists come to visit it every year. The water of Verdon River has a stunning turquoise color which looks almost surreal. This location is without a doubt popular heaven for rock climbing, rafting, paragliding, and more.
